I am always looking on Nextdoor on the free or for sale items in the neighborhood. On Friday I saw a post that had three shelving units and the catch was all of the pile needed to be taken away. Lots of “to the dump” was in the pile and I figured for the 5 to 7 items I could use, I justified the 25 bucks the gentleman wanted for the GOOD stuff , with the head ache of going to the dump to get rid of the junk I don’t need.
With everything sorted and the truck full of my own junk that needed to go to the dump, I had the rest of the afternoon to cut down to height, paint and mount the ‘new to me’ shelving in the LEGO room.
With a fresh coat of paint and cutting off the bottom section of the shelves to get rid of the water swell wood, I also had a sheet of 1/4 inch board to make the backs of each shelves.
This extra sheet strengthened the shelving units and allow a more finished look once i painted them.

With the shelving in place I will start to clean up and reorganize the room. The goal is to use the shelving as a display only of built LEGO kits.
I have a few other organizing cabinets that I will put together and place in the LEGO room.
These are nice because they are covered with a plastic laminate, which is easy to clean and I have all the shelves doors and hardware.
After the guy saw that most of the items would be going to the dump, he did give me back the 30 bucks that I had given him when I first got there… he said to use the money for the dump run. So not a bad haul for good stuff that cost me a dump run.
